We're having an unusual early May storm, so my next reviews are on hold pending better weather. While your waiting for those, I thought I'd put together some head-to-head comparisons between a few cameras. These use the test scene that are in every review, so you can compare these against other cameras I've reviewed in the past. I hope you find these useful!

Nikon today introduced the new D5000 digital SLR, which takes many of the features from the D90 and puts them into a smaller (and less expensive) body. The D5000 features an HD movie mode, so you can't help but compare it to the upcoming Canon EOS Rebel T1i and Panasonic Lumix DMC-GH1. I'm putting the finishing touches on a preview that should be ready to go in a few hours. In the meantime, hereare the highlights of this new camera:

I've posted my review of the Fuji FinePix F200EXR, a compact camera which uses the new SuperCCD EXR sensor. Read the review to see if the camera can deliver on Fuji's promise of high resolution, high sensitivity and low noise, and a wide dynamic range (though not all at the same time).

Olympus has released firmware version 1.4 for their E-3 digital SLR. Simply put, this update improves the camera's autofocus performance. As usual, you can install the update via Olympus Master or Studio.

Olympus has updated the firmware for their E-30 digital SLR. Fixes include:

• Reduces the sound of the Image Stabilizer operation when Imager AF and Hybrid AF are being used
• Stops the card access lamp from blinking if the delete button is pressed when reviewing images in close-up playback mode
• Removes horizontal stripes that occasionally appeared in images captured with different aspect marks when viewed in the index image playback mode (thumbnail view)
