Denne herlige prisbombe står til at gøre godt indhug i Canon 350D's umiddelbare dominans som det foretrukne 1. gangs dSLR.

Dpreview har testet D50 og konkluderer: Highly recommended!

Der er ris til kit-objektivet, for ikke at være knivskarpt, men sammenlignet med kritikken af samme for Canon 350D er det ikke slemt.

Ros til en udtalt mangel på støj, og en forbedring i moire i forhold til D70/D70s. Dpreview tager munden fuld og anbefaler D50 over både Canon 350D og Pentax ist* DS, der begge er dyrere kameraer.

Også continous mode'n roses, idet den godt nok iflg. specs. (2,5 billede pr. sekund) er langsommere end konkurrenterne, men over ex 30 sek. tager D50 flere billeder. Dette tilskrives delvist det hurtige SD slot.

Som en af de først er der en test af det objektiv, der medfølger i kit-pakken, og ikke uventet konkluderes at det er et godt objektiv til prisen. Kraftigt mættede farver er en fordel for de, der helst ikke vil arbejde for meget i Photo Shop efterfølgende, men blot vil have gode billeder ud af kameraet, og det leverer D50.

Konklusion: The Nikon D50 is a great camera for basic photographers, non-photographers or backup. Image quality should be identical to the D70 and D70s, which means brilliant 12 x 18" prints that many people confuse with prints from a medium format film camera. Most people will never miss the few features I would, so if you don't have any idea what I'm talking about in my comparisons get a D50 and you'll love it.

Konklusion: The Nikon D50 is a very good entry-level digital SLR that performs just as well as the more expensive D70s, though you'll lose a few features along the way. Even so, many people will be happy to ditch those features to get an affordable D-SLR that performs very well.[...]Photo quality is very good overall, though the camera almost always overexposed the photos I took. The good news it that this is very easy to fix by adjusting the exposure compensation. Noise levels were low -- perhaps even better than the D70s -- and purple fringing was not a problem. Something else that wasn't a problem on the D50 was redeye. Finally, images were a bit sharper than on most D-SLRs.

Konklusion: All in all the Nikon D50 is an excellent digital SLR camera. Ideal for those who have outgrown their compact camera or for those who want to take their first steps into digital photography. The Nikon D50 may be a so-called entry level model; nevertheless it offers the user almost everything. Nikon offers a model of the lowest priced segment; this will make us meet more Nikons in the street. The Nikon D70 already did very well, and the D50 will do equally well or even better!
